Important Upcoming Dates:
The week of March 1, Polly Phillips and I will be attending a professional conference for charter schools. The center’s hours will be limited to art and math classes only; please make sure your child(ren) attend the center at the appropriate time:

March 8 - 12 Regular Learning Center hours
March 12 marks the end of the third quarter.
March 15 – Friday, March 19 is Spring Break.
The week of March 22 – March 25 we will be having our third quarter Face to Face meetings; to accommodate the meetings the learning center will be closed except for art classes on Monday, March 22. Sign up information for the meetings is forthcoming.
Friday, March 26, is Kuhio Day Holiday.
The last week of March and the first weeks of April mark the Hawaiian State Assessment testing period. We will be providing a light breakfast for students before the test. On testing days, the center will be closed to the rest of the students.

HTA Kauai Student News:
HTA-Kauai has recieved a grant from the Kauai Economic Development Board for a robotics program to start February 19th 2010, time TBA. HTA Kauai will be particpating in the national Botball Educational Robotics Challenge. More info at www.botball.org
We would like recognize accomplishments of some of our HTA students.
- Congrats to the HTA High school students Rachel Meek and Lana Vali who competed for Kapaa High Swim Team - Kapaa High Girls Swim Team finished the season as KIF Champions!
- Congratulations to Coleman Jonas (grade 6) and Malia Byram (grade 8) for winning the KIUC Calendar contest for their grade level. Congratulations to Ela Rose (grade 10) for honorable mention for her grade level.
- Congratulation to Tiare Welborn (grade 10) for completing a successful Cross Country season running for Kapa'a High School and personally qualifying to run in the Hawaii State Cross Country Finals on Oct. 31st.
I'm proud of our students! They have not only had a personal success, but represented HTA well. There are always opportunities for students to get involved in something... check the bulletin board at the center.

Kauai Interscholastic Federation Association - all HTA students are eligible to try-out and play sports at their local High School.
