Special Education

The Hawaii Technology Academy offers special education services within our full-inclusion model. These services are available for all students who have been identified as qualifying for special needs. In compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Hawaii Code, Hawaii Technology Academy works to both identify and serve eligible children.

The Student Services Coordinator works with the regular education teacher to identify and serve students with special needs. Any parent who suspects that their child may have a disability should discuss their concerns with their child’s regular education teacher.

The process should be used as the first step in working with specialist to help identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses. This will provide additional support to a student to enable success within the least restrictive environment, general education classroom. If you have academic or behavioral concerns regarding your child, please let your teacher know.
