HTA: An Overview

Our Mission

The mission of Hawaii Technology Academy is to utilize research based technology applications and meaningful teacher/student/parent involvement to provide a new, innovative, hybrid model of public charter school education adapted to the needs of elementary, middle and high school students statewide in Hawaii.
Hawaii Technology Academy provides a customized standards-based education for students in the state of Hawaii. Our team of hard working, highly qualified staff works as partners with parents to provide an innovative and challenging education that focuses on traditional instructional models to promote mastery of the Hawaii State Standards. Hawaii Technology Academy believes parents are integral in the acquisition of knowledge and works to strengthen family values, promote character, and provide skill mastery through the use of technology and the K12® curriculum.

Our Vision

An educated person in the 21st century is one who not only has a solid understanding of and facility with fundamental concepts from core academic subjects but also has the ability to think critically about issues we face as part of a global community in the age of information and technology. The Hawaii Technology Academy will equip its students to be well educated 21st century citizens.

Our Beliefs

Hawaii Technology Academy believes that, given a comprehensive and mastery based curriculum, high expectations, access to technology, strong instructional support, a significant amount of off- line work, guidance from parents/ responsible adult, a well conceived hybrid education program combining classroom and virtual instruction will boost student achievement, serve the unique needs of Hawaii’s student’s and families, and offer a new model for effective public education in the 21st century.

Our Goals

The general goals of our educational program include:
• Enabling all students to become self-motivated, competent and lifelong learners
• Offering flexibility and choices to increase student interest in learning
• Use a variety of lessons, activities, and modalities to improve student achievement
• Striving for mastery of all skills by every student
• Developing technology literate students
• Empowering the parent or other responsible adult as the Learning Coach through a guided training program

Our Learning Center Mission

The Learning Center is a place of enrichment both academically and culturally. It is essentially the extension of our collective ohana where, we work together for our keiki’s success and the success of our communities. The Learning Center, we hope will be the place that sets HTA students apart and distinguishes our program from other educational options. It is a vital ingredient for success at HTA and we hope it is the catalyst for inspiration and the center for genuine and meaningful experiences. The Learning Center is where we educate the whole mind, body and spirit; developing culturally, socially, and academically strong citizens. The focus of HTA is not only technology, but creativity and innovation that we hope will inspire our future leaders and outstanding achievers to look back on their education with pride, honor and thanksgiving.
