• Progress logged daily on the Online School or PowerSpeak site by student.

• Student must submit coursework at the direction of the teacher.
• Course work involves active participation at Learning Center, tutorials/activities and Elluminate online sessions.

The goal of HTA is to educate your child. We cannot be successful if your child does not participate in school.

Attending a distance learning study program requires that students are able to complete work independently as scheduled by their teachers. If students are unable to complete and submit their assignments it may be an indication that a distance learning program is not an appropriate placement.

If students are logging attendance on a daily basis but no progress is being made in the classroom, the following steps will be taken:

  • The teacher will contact the student and parent to discuss ways to assist the student academically. Extended deadlines and extra assignments may be discussed in this meeting to help the student “catch up.” A deadline will be set to show improvement.
  • If progress in not made by the deadline, the teacher will contact the compliancy coordinator who will send a certified letter setting up one final phone conference. We will discuss alternative educational options, and create a plan of action to assist in the success of the student or possible withdrawal.
  • If progress is not made after the final phone conference or if there is no response to the certified letter, the student will be withdrawn from the program and the district of residence will be notified.
