Attendance is important for the success of a student, therefore the following policies guide HTA’s program.

  • Attendance in the Hawaii Technology Academy is recorded in the Online School (OLS) by submitting attendance using the Attendance screen.
  • It is expected that lessons would be completed and attendance will be logged by the end of each day.
  • The following are examples of acceptable reasons for not logging attendance in the Online School: student illness, hospitalization, bereavement, family emergency, natural disaster etc. In such cases the absences would be considered excused. Some instances may require verification (such as a doctor’s note) be provided to your teacher.

If a student has 3 or more days of missing days of attendance, as recorded on the Online School we will follow the below procedure to ensure the Hawaii Technology Academy serves in the best interest of your child:

  • Your teacher will contact you using the following methods: email and telephone.

  • Your teacher will contact you using the following methods: email, telephone and US mail.
  • A telephone conference will be held between you and your teacher to discuss attendance policy.
  • You will work together as a partnership to discuss corrective action that is both appropriate and in the best interest of the student.

If a student has 10 or more days of missing days of attendance, as recorded on the Online School we will follow the below procedure to ensure the Hawaii Technology Academy serves in the best interest of your child:

If a student has 15 or more days of missing days of attendance, as recorded on the Online School we will follow the below procedure to ensure the Hawaii Technology Academy serves in the best interest of your child:
